Look what the hens left me.
These are the eggs the chickens have laid for me on Tuesday, on the left is a normal sized egg and on the right the one that makes your eyes water its a bout three times the size of a usual egg, much too big for the egg box. It will be interesting to see if it's a double yolker or maybe even a triple yolker!
The courgette plants are also producing well I'm making sure to harvest them as soon as the flowers are dying off so the fruits don't start to rot.
We had to wait around Tuesday to "catch" fresh poo samples from the ponies. Maggie over at Equi-lab has analysied them for me and phoned with the results and we have low worm counts on all three ponies so now we can think about putting Scout and Berty into the same paddock, watch this space to see how that goes.
Pete has spent a lot of time working on the mini tractor ( a ride on mower without it's cutting deck) to get it running again, refurbished the starter motor, cleaned out the fuel tank and filters and a new spark plug put in. So it's been taken apart and put back together again lots of times. Very pleased to say it's running well now, I took it for a run to the end of the lane and back again last night and it ran fine. Pleased to say it started first time tonight too!
Weather is being kind so must contact our friend to come over and cut and bale our grass for haylage soo.

27th July 2015
Today we have harvested our first runner beans (Red Emperor) 250 grams, plenty for tea.
So far we have peas, blueberries and courgettes ready for harvesting but the cucumbers won't be long.
We had visitors to the plot today, four great nephews and two great nieces, two nieces and a husband, a brother, sister in law and two friends. All animals were on their best behaviour and Tiff gave the little ones rides around her paddock.

Meet Berty and Scout nose to nose.
We have had Berty for 2 months now he has settled in nicely. He really doesn't like having his feet picked up but I managed to clean them out yesterday. We had the farrier out last week and I can honestly say it was a battle to get his shoes off but I take my hat off to Nigel Stevens he was a star.
